What is an Ambulance Remount?
An ambulance remount is removing an existing ambulance module (patient compartment or box) from its old chassis completely disassembling the module such as removing all lights and doors and hinges and interior components. All of the original paint is completely sanded off and then any needed body work is performed, followed by the multi-coat paint process. The module is then mounted to the new chassis and all of the assembly with the new parts begins – yielding an ambulance with all of the function of a new ambulance.

Production and Remounting
Step Five
Tear Down and Disassembly: All components such as lights, doors, latches, flooring, upholstery, electrical, HVAC and interior components are removed.
Step Six
The existing ambulance module is carefully removed from its old chassis.
Step Seven
Bodywork and Repainting: the existing paint is stripped/sanded to bare metal for repair and refinishing. Any necessary bodywork is performed before applying a certified, multi-layer paint process for a new finish.
Step Eight
Mounting: Once the module is fully prepared, it is mounted onto the new chassis, with certified mounting hardware. Fabricating and installing new diamond plate rear bumper and running boards.
Step Nine
Assembly: The ambulance is then moved into the assembly line where everything is reassembled using new parts per the build-order. This includes new door hardware, new flooring, new trim and cabinet plexiglass, as well as new upholstery, and other parts.
Step Ten
Electrical and HVAC: All new electrical system is installed, new circuit boards, relays, switch panels as well as new custom center console. All new emergency lights inside and out. New complete HVAC system.
Final Inspection and Delivery
The final step is a comprehensive inspection and rigorous quality control testing. This process ensures that every component meets the highest safety, performance, and regulatory standards, including CAAS, FMVSS, DOT, and OEM compliance. Key inspection steps include:
- Complete road testing to ensure chassis performance and handling
- Inspection of emergency lighting and siren systems
- Detailed safety checks to ensure CAAS, FMVSS, DOT, and OEM compliance
Once all inspections are successfully completed, your remounted ambulance is ready for you to come to Jefferson, NC for inspection and to take receipt or we can coordinate delivery of the ambulance back to your location, fully operational and ready for service.
Why Choose an Ambulance Remount?
Top Reasons to Choose an Ambulance Remount
- Significant Cost Savings: Purchasing a new ambulance can be a significant financial burden. A fully remounted ambulance can cost 30-50% less than buying a new one, allowing departments to invest those savings into additional fleet upgrades, training, or patient care resources.
- Faster Turnaround Times: New ambulance production can take up to 2-3 years. On the other hand, a remount can be completed in 90-120 days, allowing EMS providers to get back on the road much faster.
- High Safety and Quality Standards: All of our ambulance remounts comply with industry standards and safety regulations, including:
- Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) Standards
- Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)
- Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements
- Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) chassis compliance
We ensure every remounted ambulance is as safe and reliable as a brand-new model.
